Colour code things. For example, have a red folder for heating bills, a blue folder for instructions, a green folder for certificates such as insurance/tv licence…. I think the advice on here works for anyone who needs a little organising to make life easier!

I write down items on the shopping list as they come out of the cupboard to be opened as new,and group all like items under headings so that i can get them all at one place in the aisle.I am able to walk so have found that the self check as i go means i can pack as i like and that means no checkout effort, and i can be as slow as i need. And when i get home only cool items get put away, the rest gets done as it does, but as i packed it takes no time at all.I have read all the tips with interest but use paper lists and only allow myself a few goals, today i ticked of the last to do for 2011,with a BIG SMILE.Fatigue is my bugbear so the list is well spaced with a few silly happy items. I wish you all well for the coming 2012 and thank you for all the notes,we need each other.

I have my keys with a long piece of ribbon attached to it so it can hang it (ribbon) outside of my coat pocket, handbag.  My glasses are on one of the libraian type of strings.  I try to keep things I need, on a wooden tray, on the kitchen worktop.  As for taking meds, I write a table on the bottom of my whiteboard.  days down side and number of times I have to take them across.

I have used an electronic dictaphone, but I tend to loose it in bottom of big hand bag.

Post-its are good sticking onto the front door to remind me to post letters.

It was brilliant to read about how others, with M.S. manage their memory loss!!! I have used some of the methods others have listed, my mobile is an excellent tool, I just need 2 get it a new battery as it isn’t holding charge!!! I would also like a white board that I can list tasks on, I did that when I worked in offices, it is a true achievement, to list and complete tasks, thank you Lynne for your comment cos, it can go on a Christmas list, for this year 2011.
I am only 36 but, I feel like I am brain dead sometimes now??? I am still Fighting on though, this isn’t going to take me. ;-D

I go so far as to attach my keys to myself when it’s convenient (most often in my pocket, and looped onto my jeans with a bootlace).
I started tying on my keys for fear of losing them on the allotments when gardening. Being tied to my things (like a toddler to her mittens) is perhaps not the most obvious route to elegance, but it saves me so much time and frustration.  The grace is in the lifestyle!

I write down everything important in my diary, no loose notes ever, ever as I would most likely loose them. The diary is kept on my table and if I have a busy day it can come along in my hadbag but never allowed to be placed aywhere outside the bag. When I come home directly back on the table.

Somethimes I use a kitchen alarm to set 30 min or 1hour targets to get things done.

Food shoppinglist I do in the mobile phone, and wipe it off the phone when each food item is in the basket.
Then I try to relax and have a lavender bath to treat myself when there is spare time. When Im relaxed I think my memory works better.

Ensure that your family know and understand the system that you have adopted so that they put things where you expect them to be.

Have multiples of objects that you need to find on a regular basis, such as car keys, sunglasses, reading glasses, so that if you can’t find the regular set, you don’t need to stress while you are running late, you can just use the spare.  You can find the regular set later.  I have sunglasses in my car, my husbands car and near the door (plus a spare in the cupboard), so that I no longer have to look for them, they are there when I need them.

If like me you are always forgetting things for the next day , set a reminder on your mobile phone, the alarm will trigger your memory

If there’s something you need to take out with you or letters to post, put them in front of the front door, and as you go out you won’t forget them.

I turn a light at the location where I have something important to remember, such as a light over the stove top to remind me that the kettle is on.  Turn on the desk light to remind me of a computer chore I need to complete.
